The Script of Bruises

The Script of Bruises uses third world consciousness as backdrop to explore gender relations, identity, the politics of space and toxic masculinity. It is about identity and identifying. Two poems which bear the burdens of grounding the collection are “Collage” and “A Broken Scale”. The work is a collage which captures the brokenness and pain which tie the poems together. The poems in the book frequently reach out to the female body as a template and stage where numerous meanings are made and nurtured.
